RENO – Teamsters Local 533 announced December 17 that workers at Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits in Reno have joined the organization, citing a desire for stronger job protections, better wages, and a collective voice in workplace decisions.
Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits is the largest wine and spirits distributor in the United States.
The 33 new Teamsters members work as merchandisers, reset specialists, fulfillment specialists, and logistics coordinators.
Director of the Teamsters Brewery, Bakery, and Soft Drink Conference Jeff Padellaro said the new members know that workers in their industry get more as Teamsters.
“They are joining a growing movement of Southern Glazer’s workers who are organizing with the Teamsters for strong contracts, higher wages, and respect in the workplace,” Padellaro said.
